Marcos Batan - 4th degree black belt    

 

Marcos Batan has practiced Judo since 1982. His career started in one of the most important centers of Judo inBrazil - the City of Santos. He  spent most of his competitive career training under the orientation of Kikuo Arazaki, 7th degree  and one of the most respected masters in the country.

He competed at national level inBrazil for 16 years. In the pinnacle of his competitive career he won the 1995 86Kg South American College title in Itanhaem, Brazil.  

 

He has been a black belt since 1990 and he is currently a yodan (4th degree black belt).

 

As a master athlete he held the 1st position in the USA Judo national ranking in the 2012 season and competed in the 2012 Grand Master World Championship.

Marcos is a national referee and a national level coach certified by USA Judo.

 

He is a chemical engineer and in his free time he loves to run, practice judo and referee judo matches!

     

Maximiliano Vallejos - 1st degree black belt

Maximiliano Vallejos has been training Judo since 2001. He began at the University of California, Riverside, Judo club under the direction of Tadashi Hiraoka, 8th  dan. When Max moved to Colorado for graduate school, he joined continued his judo training at Colorado State University.

Because his training has been diverse, when he teaches Judo, he uses a combination of approaches to maximize the learning of athletes.

Max is currently a Shodan (1st degree black belt), a regional level coach, and a national Judo referee, all certified by USA Judo. Max also recently began training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Professionally, Max holds master degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry, and has PhD in Biomedical Sciences, Neuroscience specialization.

Galen Lyle - 1st degree black belt

Before joining Fort Collins Judo in mid-2011, Galen began learning Judo while at the University of Illinois, and continued training while working in Rochester Minnesota.

 

In that time, he has competed all around the country in local, state, regional, and national Judo tournaments.

 

Galen attained the rank of Shodan at the start of 2017, and have since broadened my involvement in Judo beyond training for tournaments, focusing more on teaching and coaching.

 

Diego Krapf - 1st degree black belt

Diego Krapf grew up in Rosario, Argentina. As a child, he practiced judo under the instruction of Sensei Julio Cesar Maldonado between the ages 6 to 13.

After a long break, he restarted training in judo in 2011 at the Fort Collins Judo Club. Sensei Diego currently holds a 1st degree black belt and is a certified regional level judo coach.

In addition to judo, Sensei Diego has three years of experience in competitive taekwondo.

Professionally, he holds a PhD in applied physics and is a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Colorado State University.

Luis Diego Briceno - 1st degree black belt

Luis enjoys coaching and motivating all Judokas to achieve greatness. He has practiced martial arts for most of his life. He started practicing judo in 2007, during his graduate school.

Luis is currently a black belt in judo. He also has black belts in Tae-Kwon-Do and Kyokushin Karate.

He has a PhD from Colorado State University in Electrical Engineering and work as a Senior Design Component Engineer.
